Spring is when the wetlands around Pego come alive. Once again the town has prepared guided tours designed to help residents and visitors discover one of the area’s greatest natural treasures: the Parque Natural del Marjal de Pego-Oliva.
Throughout March and April, four activities will explore the rich biodiversity of this protected landscape. Enjoy family-friendly adventures to specialist birdwatching walks, aimed at bringing people closer to the flora, fauna and traditions of the marsh.

The programme opens on 15 March at 10:00 with The Treasure Hunt in the Marjal. Participants will follow a trail through areas such as Blau del Calapatar, Muntanyeta Verda and the old salt flats. You can enjoy solving challenges and answering questions along the way.
Birdwatching season returns to the wetlands
Nature lovers can look forward to two guided birdwatching outings organised in collaboration with Valencia Birding. The first takes place on 22 March at 09:30, with a second scheduled for 19 April, also starting at 09:30.
These routes focus on spotting the many species that live in or migrate through the wetlands, a hotspot for herons, waders and other water birds that thrive in the lagoon ecosystem.
Between the two birdwatching sessions, an interpretive walk led by naturalist Joan Sala will be held in early April, offering a closer look at the plant life and wildlife that shape the character of the marsh.
A natural jewel at its best
Tourism councillor Ricardo Sendra stressed that spring is one of the most beautiful times to explore the Marjal. As temperatures rise, the wetlands burst into colour and activity, making it an ideal moment to reconnect with nature.
