For five days at the end of July, the Vega Baja town of Dolores will swap its quiet rural pace for one of Spain’s largest livestock fairs.

FEGADO, the annual Feria de Ganado de Dolores, returns from July 30 to August 3. The event brings together breeders, horse lovers, farming professionals and thousands of visitors from across the country.

Today, it ranks among the Costa Blanca’s most distinctive summer events.

Celebrating farming traditions

The Valencian Community has recognised FEGADO as a Festival of Autonomous Tourist Interest.

The fair celebrates the region’s agricultural heritage through livestock competitions, equestrian events, farming displays and family activities.

This year’s programme includes the National Market for Select Livestock, dressage competitions, working horse demonstrations, cattle and horse pulling contests, dog agility displays, blacksmithing exhibitions and the popular livestock pilgrimage through the streets of Dolores.

Entertainment for the whole family

Although farming remains at the heart of FEGADO, the fair offers much more than livestock displays.

Visitors can also enjoy live music, fairground rides, food and drink stalls, evening entertainment and the traditional peñas celebrations, which keep the town buzzing long after sunset.

As a result, the event attracts families, tourists and rural enthusiasts alike.

A major boost for the local economy

Every summer, FEGADO draws thousands of visitors to Dolores and the wider Vega Baja.

Their arrival provides a welcome boost for local hotels, restaurants, bars and shops during one of the busiest periods of the year.

At the same time, the fair showcases the town’s farming heritage while promoting it as a destination for rural tourism.

With another busy edition on the horizon, Dolores is once again preparing to become the centre of Spain’s livestock world for five days.
