Halloween has well and truly escaped the fancy-dress cupboard on the Costa Blanca.

Town halls across the region are preparing everything from children’s parties and costume parades to tunnels of terror, monster discos, escape rooms and even a zombie survival experience.

Not every town on the Costa Blanca has announced a Halloween programme yet, but there is already plenty happening between now and 31 October, with a few towns stretching the scares into November.

Here are some of the best confirmed events so far.

Alicante: Halloween spreads across the city

Alicante is taking Halloween into several neighbourhoods rather than concentrating everything in the city centre.

On Friday 30 October, Plaza Joaquín María López will host Halloween activities from 17:00 to 20:00, followed on Saturday 31 October by another event at Parque Historiador Vicente Ramos from 10:00 to 14:00.

Expect spooky workshops, attractions, virtual reality, games, entertainment and plenty of costumes. Halloween celebrations are also planned around Poeta Quintana and in La Florida and Ciudad de Asís.

There is another event at Centro Social Isla de Cuba in Los Ángeles on Friday 30 October. Starting at 17:30, it will include music, surprises and an escape room, with fancy dress encouraged.

Elche: costumes, horror and Rocky Horror

Elche is going considerably bigger.

Plaza de Baix will host a Halloween party on Saturday 31 October from 17:30 until 01:00, with inflatables, workshops, live music, children’s entertainment, a fancy-dress competition and a Foso del Terror, or Horror Pit.

There is plenty for older teenagers and adults too. L’Escorxador will run Halloween activities from 18:00 until 01:00, including an effects make-up workshop, aerial acrobatics, a collaborative game, live music and a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Some of these free activities require advance registration.

Halloween is also spreading into Elche’s outlying areas. Torrellano gets a Horror Passage, El Altet has a Tunnel of Terror from 19:00 to 23:00, La Hoya combines a mini horror tunnel with a gymkhana, and Carrús has a costume parade.

Before all that, the Elche Misterioso route leaves Plaza de Santa Isabel on 29 and 30 October between 18:30 and 21:00, exploring some of the city’s mysteries and legends.

Denia: Valencian monsters take over Halloween

Denia is giving Halloween a distinctly local twist with its Noche de las Almas (Night of the Souls).

Rather than relying entirely on the usual vampires and zombies, this year’s celebration puts monsters and legends from Valencian folklore centre stage.

On 31 October, LEGO workshops run from 10:00 to 13:00, followed by children’s storytelling at the Juan Chabás Public Library at 12:00.

Families gather on Calle La Vía at 17:00 before a parade of Valencian monsters sets off at 17:30 and makes its way through central Denia to Plaza del Consell.

A monster mini-disco follows from 18:40, while the evening programme starts another parade at 22:00. Plaza del Consell then hosts a macabre disco from 22:30 until midnight.

For anyone aged over 14 who wants something more sinister, the Youth Centre hosts the group role-playing game The Purge from 18:00 to 22:00.

There is also a charity Halloween LEGO exhibition running until 7 November, raising money for local youngster Luca, who has IFAP syndrome.

Jávea: BubotaFest brings out the monsters

Jávea is mixing Halloween with Valencian folklore too.

BubotaFest takes place on Saturday 31 October, with the main Halloween parade beginning at 18:00 in Plaza de la Constitución. A bubota is one of the frightening creatures found in Valencian popular folklore.

There is also an earlier Halloween activity for younger residents. PlayJove hosts a Tunnel of Terror at 17:30 on Friday 30 October, while the Municipal Library has a family monster storytelling session at the same time.

Villajoyosa: three children’s parties and a late-night Halloween bash

Villajoyosa is splitting Halloween into something for the children and something for those with rather later bedtimes.

Three children’s parties take place on Friday 30 October at La Cala, La Ermita and Parque de la Barbera dels Aragonés, with costumes, music and inflatables. Activities begin at 17:15.

Then on Saturday 31 October, Senyoreta de l’Hort hosts a free Halloween party from 23:00 until 04:00.

DJ Pana, DJ Javirz, DJ Eugeniet and DJ El Jefe provide the music, and fancy dress is very much part of proceedings. The venue will operate with capacity controls.

Altea: enter The Last Performance

Altea is aiming for proper scares rather than a gentle pumpkin workshop.

The Last Performance is an immersive horror experience taking place at the Centro Social on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October.

Sessions run from 17:00 until 23:30, with a new group entering every 40 minutes.

Tickets cost €2 and advance booking is required because group sizes are limited. The experience is recommended for over-16s, although children from 12 can take part when accompanied.

Perhaps do not volunteer to go first.

L’Alfàs del Pi: solve a murder or join the family party

L’Alfàs del Pi has two very different Halloween plans.

On Thursday 29 October, 16 to 35-year-olds can play Blood on the Clocktower at Espai Cultural Escoles Velles from 18:00 to 22:00.

The social deduction game puts players in a village where a murder has taken place, with demons and their allies secretly hiding among the group.

Participation is free but requires advance registration.

Things become rather less murderous on Friday 30 October with a family Halloween celebration.

A parade leaves the Casa de Cultura at 17:30 and heads to the municipal marquee, where there will be children’s workshops and a mini-disco until 19:30.

Finestrat: Halloween afternoon on 31 October

Finestrat Town Hall has confirmed that its main Halloween celebration will return on Saturday 31 October.

The council is preparing an afternoon of Halloween entertainment through its Traditions and Festivals Department.

It has also organised a separate Halloween excursion to Terra Mítica for young people aged 12 to 35.

Keep an eye on the council programme for the final timetable before setting off.

Benissa: a Noche de las Ánimas for children

Benissa is also leaning towards the older local tradition of the Night of Souls.

Its municipal tourism programme lists La Noche de las Ánimas para los más pequeños on Saturday 31 October, a free family event with music and entertainment.

The town also has family cinema over the Halloween weekend, with La Bola Negra showing on 31 October and 1 November for €4.

Guardamar: two tunnels, depending on how brave you are

Guardamar has solved the problem of younger children wanting a Halloween fright without quite wanting nightmares until Christmas.

On Saturday 31 October, a Family Horror Passage runs at the amphitheatre on Avenida Los Pinos from 19:00 to 22:30. Children under 12 must attend with an adult.

For the braver crowd, a separate Horror Passage opens in Parque Alfonso XIII from 19:30 to 23:00 and is aimed at ages 12 and over.

Both are free, with entry in order of arrival.

Rojales: hot chocolate meets the Horror Passage

Rojales starts its Halloween party at 17:30 on Saturday 31 October at Malecón del Soto.

There will be workshops, hot chocolate, dancing from the Sofía Sánchez school, storytelling and a magic show.

Then there is the Pasaje del Terror for anyone who feels the evening has been altogether too relaxing.

Pilar de la Horadada: six hours of Halloween

Pilar de la Horadada is transforming its Youth Department into Un Pilar de Miedo, or A Terrifying Pilar, on 31 October.

The Horror Passage is recommended for ages 12 and over, although younger children can enter with an adult.

There will also be monster workshops, including a laboratory, express make-up and the mysterious Caja Maldita, or Cursed Box, along with spooky alcohol-free cocktails while supplies last.

Activities run from 18:00 until midnight at the Centro de Información Juvenil on Calle Ramón y Cajal.

There is no advance registration and admission is free.

Monforte del Cid: Hogwarts, trick or treating and zombies

Monforte del Cid may have the most ambitious Halloween programme of the lot.

Events begin on 24 October and continue until 7 November.

On Halloween itself, 31 October, magician Dálux presents Welcome to Hogwarts at the Municipal Library at 12:00.

From 18:00, San Roque and Santo Cristo hold trick-or-treating events, while Plaza del Ayuntamiento hosts a children’s party from 18:00 to 20:00 with face painting, popcorn, sweets and entertainment. Ayto.

And just when everyone thinks Halloween is finished, Monforte brings it back from the dead.

On 7 November, La Glorieta gets a Tunnel of Terror and the municipal sports centre hosts All Dead, a zombie survival experience with sessions at 21:00 and 23:00. Tickets are limited.

Torrevieja: horror films before Halloween

Torrevieja’s main confirmed municipal Halloween-related event arrives a little earlier.

The ninth Torrerífico Horror Short Film Festival takes place on Saturday 24 October at the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen.

Entry is free, and organisers received a record 173 short films from across Spain for this year’s festival. torrevieja.es

The Youth Department is also extending its spooky season into November with a Halloween trip to PortAventura World on 7 and 8 November and a Harry Potter-themed day on 7 November.

More events are likely to appear

This is one of those articles worth checking again before Halloween itself.

Several Costa Blanca councils had not published a detailed 2026 Halloween programme on their websites when we checked on 23 October, while others have announced events but are still adding information.

So if your town is not listed here, it does not necessarily mean nothing is happening. Local programmes, youth centres and tourism departments can still add events during the final week of October.
