One of my favourite walks on the Costa Blanca is Moraira’s fabulous coastal walk.
The town’s coastal viewpoints route follows the shoreline for around 4.3 kilometres, linking many of its best beaches, hidden coves and panoramic lookouts. The walk takes about 75 minutes without stops.
The easy route begins at El Portet beach and finishes near Calle Túnez. It is ideal for a relaxed morning or evening stroll. Along the way, walkers enjoy spectacular views over the Mediterranean, dramatic cliffs and some of the Costa Blanca’s most photogenic scenery.
From El Portet to Moraira Castle
The route starts at El Portet, one of Moraira’s most photographed beaches, before climbing gently to the Mirador del Portitxolet. From here, there are sweeping views across the bay towards the Peñón de Ifach, Moraira Marina and the small cove of Portitxolet below.
The path then descends towards the old town and reaches the esplanade surrounding Moraira Castle. Builders constructed the 18th-century fortress to defend the coastline against pirate attacks. Today, it provides one of the best viewpoints over L’Ampolla Beach and the town.
Beaches, viewpoints and hidden coves
From the castle, the walk continues past L’Ampolla, Moraira’s largest sandy beach, before reaching the Mirador de les Tosqueres. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views back towards the castle and the coastline.
The trail then passes Les Platgetes, a pair of small coves that combine sand and rock. The area is popular for snorkelling and kayaking.
The final section follows the seafront to Cala L’Andragó. Another viewpoint offers spectacular views across the Mediterranean and back towards Moraira.
Plenty of places to stop
Suitable for most fitness levels, the route is well signposted and offers plenty of opportunities to pause along the way. Beach bars, cafés, restaurants and swimming spots are never far away, making it easy to break up the walk with a drink, lunch or a refreshing dip in the sea.
Whether you complete the entire trail or simply explore part of it, the Miradores Route is one of the best ways to appreciate why Moraira remains one of the Costa Blanca’s most picturesque seaside destinations.
