Would you prefer to file your Spanish Tax Return over the phone?
The Agencia Tributaria has officially launched the next phase of the 2025 income tax campaign, with personalised telephone assistance now available through its “Le Llamamos” service.
The system allows taxpayers to complete and submit their annual tax return over the phone without visiting an office.
The service opened on 6 May and will remain available until the end of the campaign.
Spanish tax return by phone: Millions already processed
The Agencia Tributaria says it has already processed refunds for more than 4.49 million taxpayers, returning a total of €3.1 billion.
So far, almost eight million tax returns have been submitted, nearly 5% more than at the same stage last year, despite this year’s campaign starting six days later.
At the same time, more than 1.17 million declarations with tax still to pay have also been filed.
Strong rise in simplified online returns
One of the biggest increases this year comes from “Renta Directa”, the simplified online system designed for straightforward tax returns.
More than 1.37 million people have already used the service, representing a 163% increase compared to last year.
The platform is aimed at taxpayers whose draft declaration does not require major changes. This year, the system has expanded to include some mortgage holders, first-time filers and certain regional deductions.
It also now accepts payments via Bizum and bank card.
Appointments now available for Spanish tax return by phone
Taxpayers wanting personalised assistance can now book a call through the “Le Llamamos” programme.
After choosing a morning or afternoon slot, users receive a scheduled callback from the tax agency, with advisers helping prepare and submit the declaration during the call.
Authorities recommend having all relevant paperwork ready beforehand to avoid delays.
The tax agency says telephone support has become the most popular form of personalised assistance in recent years, handling almost 1.2 million declarations during the previous campaign.
In-person help starts in June
Face-to-face assistance will begin from 1 June through the “Más cerca de ti” programme.
Appointments will be available across dozens of offices throughout Spain, including locations across the Costa Blanca.
Who does not need to file?
In general, workers earning up to €22,000 annually from a single employer do not need to submit a return.
However, the threshold falls to €15,876 for people with multiple employers or certain other income arrangements.
Self-employed workers and recipients of Spain’s Minimum Vital Income remain required to file a declaration regardless of earnings.
Authorities also continue urging taxpayers to carefully review draft declarations, particularly if they have deductions, rental income, property sales or changes in family circumstances.
