Grab your walking shoes, Pego is getting ready for a day of solidarity on 16 November as the town holds its first charity race to support cancer research.
The race starts at 10:30 from Pla de la Font, and participants can take part by either walking or running.
Both groups will follow a broad route through some of Pego’s most central streets, including Passeig Cervantes, Calle Alfonso Pellicer Mengual, Avenida Blasco Ibáñez, Castell de Castells, Carolina Sala, Sant Jaume, Capità Cendra, Ecce Homo, Mayor, Ramón y Cajal, Mestre Esteve, Moreral, Sant Josep, and Passeig Atzaneta “Verdala.”
Pego Charity Race: Two routes, one finish line
At Calle San Joaquín, the walkers will take the direct route to the finish along the right-hand side of Passeig Cervantes. Runners will continue through Passeig del Calvari, the Penya del Gat footbridge, and several other streets. The runners will then join the walkers at the finish line at the top end of Passeig Cervantes.

Road closures
During the event, streets along the route will be closed from 10:00 to 12:00, and parking will be prohibited at Pla de la Font and on both sides of Passeig Cervantes from 08:00 to 13:00.
Councillor for Sports Raül Tamarit said, “This is a wonderful initiative that combines physical exercise and solidarity. I am sure the people of Pego will turn out in large numbers to support this cause.” He also expressed gratitude to the Esperança Association for their work not just in organising the race but throughout the year.
Tamarit encouraged residents and visitors to join in. He said: “It’s well worth coming out on the 16th to lend a hand and make a contribution to the fight against cancer.”
