The Costa Blanca has gained six new Festival of Tourist Interest titles in 2025. These form part of the 24 distinctions awarded this year by the Valencian Government to promote tourism and highlight local traditions across the Valencian Community.
The awards recognise festivals with strong cultural, historical, and tourist value. The titles are divided into three levels. Eleven festivals received Regional Tourist Interest status, seven were classed as Provincial, and six were recognised at Local level.
By province, Valencia leads the list with twelve new declarations. Alicante and Castellón follow with six each. This confirms the growing importance of Alicante’s festive calendar as a key tourist attraction.
Costa Blanca: Festivals of Tourist Interest
On the Costa Blanca, the authorities recognised Holy Week in Torrevieja and the Patron Saint and Moors and Christians festivals in Santa Pola, which honour Our Lady of Loreto. They also recognised other festivals across the Valencian Community. The declarations praised each event for preserving tradition, attracting visitors, and supporting local culture and local economies.
These declarations represent more than a badge of honour. They mark an important first step towards Festival of National Tourist Interest status. That higher level brings greater visibility and international appeal.
One of the best-known festivals in the Vinalopó area has also moved forward. On 17 December, Elda officially submitted its application to gain recognition for its Moors and Christians festival as a Festival of International Tourist Interest. The Council has now begun the regional process before the State Secretariat for Tourism reviews the application and makes the final decision.
