Alcoy is preparing for the return of its popular “Feria Andaluza”(Andalusian Fair), with three days of live music, dancing, horses and family activities planned from 29 to 31 May.
Now celebrating its eleventh edition, the feria will once again take place at Aules Verdes. l.
Parade and horse procession open the celebrations
The feria begins on Friday 29 May with a colourful parade and horse procession travelling from the Casa de Andalucía headquarters along Avenida de la Hispanitat to the feria grounds.
The official opening will then include:
- The crowning of the Casa de Andalucía queen
- A traditional rebujito welcome drink
- The popular “Alcoy Baila Sevillanas” gathering
Meanwhile, visitors will also be able to enjoy horse displays and equestrian exhibitions
Later in the evening, the programme continues with:
- The traditional feria light switch-on
- Live music from Fran Calero
- The “Fiesta Raíces” party with DJ Edu
Family activities and Andalusian culture
Saturday’s programme focuses strongly on family entertainment and Andalusian traditions.
Activities throughout the day include:
- The children’s dance workshop “Pequerumba”
- Horse rides
- Sevillanas dancing
- Flamenco-inspired live music performances
In addition, the event “Voces, Sones y Caballistas” will feature performances from:
- Coro Rociero La Amistad
- Casa de Andalucía musical group
- Coro Al-Andalus
As the evening continues, visitors can enjoy two concerts.
Afterwards, another late-night Fiesta Raíces session will keep the feria atmosphere going well into the night.
Dance performances close the feria
On Sunday, the celebrations finish with even more sevillanas dancing, children’s percussion workshops and performances from local dance academies and cultural groups.
