After nearly 18 years using a storage facility in La Marina, the team at the Paul Cunningham Nurses recently had the opportunity to relocate to Rojales.
The move made sense. Most of the charity’s patients are based around Torrevieja and Ciudad Quesada, so the new location brings everything closer to where it’s needed.
There was just one problem. Moving it all.
Among the items to be transported were ten hospital beds and their attachments, not something you can easily organise at short notice. Several removal companies were contacted, but none could offer a suitable date.
Help from Howells & Sons
Eventually, the team approached Howells & Son. Despite a busy schedule, they assessed the move and fitted it in the following Tuesday, exactly when it was needed.
When the team asked about the cost, the answer was simple: there would be no charge, in recognition of the work the charity does in the community.
On the day, the team arrived on time and got straight to work. They carefully wrapped the beds, handled everything properly, and transported it without damage. The whole process ran smoothly and efficiently.
For the charity, the move means they can better support patients and families during a difficult time.
About Paul Cunningham Nurses
Paul Cunningham Nurses has been supporting patients on the Costa Blanca since 2008. Founded by Jennifer Cunningham in memory of her son Paul, who died from spinal cancer aged 33, the charity provides free, at-home care for people with terminal illnesses.
Their aim is simple. To help patients spend their final days in comfort, in their own home, and to support families through what is often a very difficult time.
The service includes:
- End-of-life care at home
- Support and guidance for families and friends
- Medical equipment such as beds, wheelchairs and pressure mattresses
They cover a wide area, from Pilar de la Horadada to Gran Alacant, and support patients with all types of terminal illness.
The service is free of charge, but it relies entirely on donations and community support.
