Enjoy Spanish tradition at its finest with Calpe’s Moors and Christians Festival.
From 16 to 22 October, the town will burst into life to honour Calpe’s patron saint, the Most Holy Christ of Our Lady. Expect the streets to be filled with music, fireworks and centuries-old customs.
Traditions like El Miracle, El Desembarc (The Landing), and the Grand Parade will once again take centre stage in Calpe.
It really is a must-see fiesta and has long been declared an Event of Regional Tourist Interest.

A brief history
The Moors and Christians of Calpe trace their roots back to 1976. A group of locals set out to commemorate both the Berber attack of 1744 and their devotion to the town’s patron saint. Nearly fifty years later, the celebration continues to thrive thanks.
For a week, Calpe will transform into a spectacle of marching bands and dazzling costumes.
The celebrations begin on Thursday 16 October with the presentation of the Festival Book and the official town crier. This will be followed by the debut of the much-anticipated 1st Night of the Squadron Corporals.
Participants of all ages are invited to join a grand formation of squadrons accompanied by the Calp-Ifach Musical Union, performing a Moorish march, a Christian march, and a lively pasodoble.
