Spain’s popular Cine Sénior programme will return for 2026 and 2027, allowing people aged 65 and over to visit participating cinemas for just €2.
The Spanish government renewed the scheme after strong demand during previous years.
Millions of discount cinema tickets already used
The programme first launched in 2023 and has already provided millions of discounted cinema tickets across Spain.
Officials created the initiative to help older residents stay socially active while also supporting local cinemas.
Participating cinemas receive government funding so they can offer reduced-price tickets to senior citizens.
How the Cine Sénior scheme works
Most cinemas offer the €2 tickets on Tuesdays, although some venues may choose a different day depending on their schedule.
Customers can use the discount for standard film screenings.
The reduced ticket price does not apply to X-rated films or screenings that already cost €2 or less.
Who can get Spain’s €2 cinema tickets?
To qualify for the Cine Sénior scheme, customers must:
- Be aged 65 or older
- Be legally resident in Spain
- Show valid identification when buying or collecting tickets
Accepted identification includes a DNI card, passport or residence permit.
People can buy tickets at cinema box offices or online.
Cine Sénior programme continues through 2027
The programme will continue throughout the rest of 2026 and much of 2027.
Seasonal cinemas will only take part while they remain open to the public.
Cinema attendance linked to the scheme has increased every year since the launch. In many parts of Spain, Tuesdays have become one of the busiest days of the week for cinemas.
For many retirees on the Costa Blanca and across Spain, it is a great way to watch the latest films for the price of a café con leche.
