Benidorm is once again proving why it remains the powerhouse of tourism in the Valencian Community.
Fresh figures from the regional hotel association Hosbec show that the city continues to outperform the rest of the region across hotels, tourist apartments and campsites.
Benidorm leads the way in hotel stays
When it comes to hotels, Benidorm alone accounted for 36.4% of all overnight stays in the Valencian Community in 2025, with an impressive 11.5 million nights. That is more than the entire province of Valencia (27.5%) and well ahead of Castellón (12.4%).
The data once again underlines the strength of the Costa Blanca, which represents around 60% of all overnight stays in the region.
Nationally, Benidorm ranked as Spain’s fourth most popular hotel destination, behind only Barcelona, Madrid and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
Record visitor numbers
2025 was also a milestone year for tourism across the region, with the Valencian Community surpassing 10 million visitors for the first time.
Hosbec notes that while sheer visitor numbers are no longer the main industry goal, they remain key for understanding the sector’s evolution. Overnight stays grew by almost 2%, reaching more than 31.6 million nights in total.
Alongside Benidorm, Valencia recorded around five million overnight stays, while Alicante reached 2.3 million.
Profitability continues to improve
The growth came during a year when hotel capacity expanded at a more moderate pace, with available beds up 2.5% to 137,000. Employment rose even faster, increasing by 3%, with around 18,000 people now directly linked to hotel activity.
Across the Valencian Community, the average daily room rate stood at €105.40, while revenue per available room reached €73.90, both up around 3%. However, these figures still sit below the national averages.
Within the region, the highest hotel rates were recorded in:
- Valencia city (€118.66)
- Alicante city (€116.46)
- Benidorm (€111.56)
- Peñíscola (€94.40)
- Elche (€75.26)
Benidorm also tops apartments and campsites
Hosbec’s report shows that Benidorm’s dominance goes beyond hotels.
In tourist apartments, the city is Spain’s leading mainland destination, ranking sixth nationally with more than 2.5 million overnight stays, most from international visitors. Other strong performers included Calp, Alicante and Valencia.
In the camping sector, Benidorm took first place nationally with two million overnight stays, far ahead of competitors. Other Valencian destinations making the top rankings included Oliva, Peñíscola, Oropesa, Sueca and Alcalà de Xivert.
Benidorm also recorded an exceptional 93.9% campsite occupancy rate, comfortably ahead of all other major destination
