Torrevieja is getting ready for its much-loved Feria de Mayo, returning from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 May at the Parque Antonio Soria.

Calling all lovers of a good fiesta. If you enjoy music, dancing, a bit of flamenco flair and plenty of food and drink, this is one date to get in the diary

One of the biggest events of the spring

If you have never been before, this is not a small local gathering. It is one of the biggest and busiest events in the area, drawing thousands of people every year.

Originally inspired by the famous Andalusian fairs, it has become a real highlight of the Costa Blanca calendar, with a mix of live music, dancing, food and that lively, late-night atmosphere Spain does so well.

What to expect

The setup will feel familiar if you have been to a feria before. Rows of “casetas” (tents), music playing, people dressed up, and plenty of space to eat, drink and socialise.

This year there will be 15 casetas run by local groups and associations, including a municipal one raising funds for charity.

A big part of the feria is the local dance scene, and several academies from Torrevieja will be performing across the weekend.

Alongside that, there are a couple of headline acts worth noting. Friday night brings La Cuarta Cuerda, a popular flamenco-pop group, while Saturday features Raya Evolution, a name many will recognise from the Spanish rumba scene.

More than just music

The weekend is not just about concerts.

There is the traditional misa rociera on the Saturday, followed by a parade of horses and carriages making its way through town to the fairground. It is one of those moments that really gives the event its Andalusian feel.

You will also find the usual mix of food, drinks, dancing and late nights, with the site staying open well into the early hours.

What makes this feria stand out is the mix of locals and visitors.

You can go all in and dress the part, or just turn up, grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere.

Bridging the Gap’s top tips

The fair opens daily from around midday, with the main events and performances kicking off in the evening.

If you are planning to go, especially at the weekend, expect it to be busy. Parking can be tricky, so it is worth allowing a bit of extra time.
