Pego has become the first municipality in the Valencian Community to introduce permanent selfie spots.

Pego’s new selfie spots have been set up in two key places along the urban route. Instantly popular they are fast becoming essential stops for anyone wanting a memorable photograph of their visit.

One stand is in Placa de lAjuntament, offering a wonderful view of the Church of the Assumption.

The second stand sits in front of the Portal de Sala, the only surviving historic gate of the three that once marked the entrance to the town.

Ricardo Sendra, Councillor for Tourism, notes that these locations are becoming must visit spots for anyone who wants the best framing alongside some of the town’s most iconic monuments.

Pego’s Selfie Spots: A digital twist

The stands come with a digital element as well. Each one includes a QR code that links users to a dedicated webpage for that exact location.

Through this link visitors can access detailed information about each site, along with an audio guide available in several languages. The same system provides access to additional resources, turning the stands into more than simple photo points. They function as modern tourist information hubs, designed for the way people now travel and explore.

Selfie spots, a patented experience in Pego

These selfie stands form part of the Pego Photo Route project, a patented tourist experience developed by the Spanish company TURS take your selfie. The technology behind the project uses geolocation and big data to gather useful information about the number of visitors using these points.

The data collected can offer valuable insight for tourism planning in the municipality, helping to guide promotional campaigns, adjust services or schedule activities based on real visitor behaviour.

Boosting Pego through social media

The selfie points are not only about taking a flattering photo. They also encourage visitors to become enthusiastic promoters of Pego on social media.

Using the stands is easy. Place your phone on the holder, take the selfie and share it online with a tag to @aj_pego. Each shared photo helps raise the profile of Pego as a tourist destination. It strengthens its image in a world increasingly shaped by digital content and visual experiences.
