Benidorm is moving closer to becoming home to the tallest residential building in the European Union as construction continues on the huge TM Tower development.
Developer TM Grupo Inmobiliario has now completed the ground floor structure of the skyscraper, marking another major milestone in the project.
A new EU height record
Once finished, TM Tower will rise 230 metres across 64 floors.
As a result, it will overtake Złota 44 by 38 metres and 12 floors, becoming the tallest residential tower in the European Union.
The project is already generating strong international demand. Around half of the 260 apartments have already been reserved.
According to the developer, most buyers currently come from Poland, Spain and Ukraine. Meanwhile, the average purchase price stands at almost €975,000.
Foundations built for a giant
The engineering work behind the tower has also been massive.
Construction of the foundations required 355 deep piles extending up to 16 metres underground. In total, builders used more than 5,000 cubic metres of concrete and 245 tonnes of steel.
Once complete, the tower will support an estimated total weight of around 85,000 tonnes.
Pools, wellness areas and a sky bar
TM Tower will feature more than 10,000 square metres of communal facilities.
These will include:
- Heated swimming pools
- Wellness and spa areas
- Sports facilities
- A cinema room
- A panoramic sky bar
- An astronomical observatory on the 63rd floor
Developers say the building’s design takes inspiration from the shape of sea coral.
