Spain might look like one big sunny country, but actually, it’s full of little weather surprises.
Thanks to its varied landscape, Spain has lots of microclimates (tiny weather zones that can be very different from each other). This means you could be sipping sangria on a sunny beach in the south and then skiing in the mountains a few hours later.
In the north, around places like Galicia and the Basque Country, the weather is quite green and rainy. It’s a bit like the UK but with better food and more sunshine in the summer. Meanwhile, the south, especially Andalusia, bakes under the hot sun with dry, warm days.
The central part of Spain can be surprisingly cold in winter because it’s high up on a plateau. So don’t be fooled by the sunny skies, it can still snow! And then there are the islands, like the Canary Islands, which enjoy mild weather all year round.
Spain’s microclimates mean you can experience a bit of everything, rain, sun, snow, and everything in between, all in one country.
