Cirque du Soleil has officially raised its iconic Big Top on Playa de San Juan ahead of the Alicante premiere of KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities.

Around 100 workers assembled the huge tent, which will host performances from 16 July until 23 August.

KURIOS returns Cirque du Soleil to Alicante

KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities marks Cirque du Soleil’s return to Alicante after the success of Luzia and Alegría: In a New Light.

The company first premiered the production in Montreal in 2014.

Since then, more than six million people have watched the show in 40 cities around the world, with over 3,000 performances.

A journey into a world of imagination

Inspired by the world of steampunk, KURIOS follows a scientist who believes a hidden world exists where imagination knows no limits.

When he discovers a way into this mysterious realm, time stands still and a remarkable collection of eccentric characters and extraordinary inventions springs to life inside his cabinet of curiosities.

Throughout the show, breathtaking acrobatics, comedy, visual effects and imaginative storytelling combine to create Cirque du Soleil’s signature theatrical experience.

An international cast

The production brings together 50 artists from around the world.

Since its founding in Canada in 1984, Cirque du Soleil has entertained more than 378 million people in 86 countries. Today, the company employs more than 4,000 people, including around 1,200 artists representing 80 nationalities.
