Bigastro is preparing to celebrate its annual Santa Ana fiestas this weekend, with two days of music, family entertainment, traditional events and religious celebrations taking place on July 25 and 26 at Santa Ana Park.
Organised by the Department of Festivities, the celebrations offer activities for all ages. In addition to children’s entertainment and live music, the programme includes the traditional Mass in honour of Santa Ana. There will also be a bar service available on Saturday, serving food at lunchtime and again in the evening.
Saturday’s programme
The festivities get underway at 09:00 on Saturday with the traditional
Charamita. Later in the morning, at 10:00, a water party with inflatable attractions will provide entertainment for children.
After the daytime activities, the bar opens for tapas at 14:00 before the evening programme begins.
Meanwhile, live acoustic music starts at 21:30, followed by the comparsa prize-giving ceremony at 23:00 and the presentation of this year’s festival queens at 23:30.
Finally, at 00:00, Spanish singer Micky takes to the stage, with DJ Julito rounding off the night from 01:30.
Sunday’s celebrations
The following day, the Charamita returns at 09:00 on Sunday, July 26.
The highlight of the religious programme will be the Mass in honour of Santa Ana, which will be celebrated at 10:00.
After the morning celebrations, the official programme comes to a close at 14:00, bringing this year’s festivities to an end.
Fireworks timetable
As part of the celebrations, fireworks and rockets will be permitted during the following times:
- Saturday, July 25: 09:00 to 00:30
- Sunday, July 26: 09:00 to 14:00
