Record after record. Alicante-Elche Airport just keeps climbing as October delivers another milestone moment.
The airport edged closer to the symbolic two million passenger mark outside the peak summer months. The final tally for the month reached 1,902,792 travellers, a 5.9 percent increase compared with October 2024 and the strongest October in its history.
These figures push the airport’s running total for the first ten months of 2025 to 17,220,070 passengers, a rise of 8.3 percent year on year. With November and December still to come, all indications suggest that Alicante will comfortably surpass last year’s all time record of 18.3 million passengers, potentially closing 2025 more than 1.5 million ahead.
Alicante-Elche Airport: International market
As usual, the growth is powered by international travel, the dominant force at the terminal. International passengers increased by 7.3 percent, reaching 1,682,560 travellers. Domestic traffic, meanwhile, came in at 217,233 passengers, a 4.5 percent decrease compared with last year, a sign that domestic travel patterns are settling back to pre Covid trends.
Within the international market, the United Kingdom once again claimed the top spot with 631,771 passengers, followed by Germany (129,127), the Netherlands (118,996), Belgium (98,841) and Poland (91,695). Aircraft movements also reached new heights, with 11,931 flights recorded in October, an increase of 6.1 percent.
This performance keeps Alicante firmly positioned as Spain’s fifth busiest airport, behind Madrid Barajas (6,034,971 passengers), Barcelona El Prat (5,243,506), Palma de Mallorca (3,501,199) and Málaga Costa del Sol (2,576,610). It also stands out as the third fastest growing within this top group.
Wider Aena network
Across the wider Aena network, which includes 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport, and 17 airports in Brazil, October also brought positive results. The network handled 35,099,396 passengers, up 4.5 percent year on year. Aircraft movements totalled 295,929, an increase of 4.3 percent, while cargo transport reached 150,175 tonnes, rising 9.3 percent compared with October 2024.
