Alicante-Elche Airport is continuing to add more routes for the summer season, with extra good news for travellers heading to London. The UK capital remains the airport’s busiest market and one of the most popular destinations for low cost airlines.
Hungarian airline Wizz Air is joining EasyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair on the Alicante to London route. The new service will fly to London Luton, the third busiest London airport after Gatwick and Stansted. The airline confirmed the news after securing two additional slots from TUI Airways, allowing it to base another aircraft in London. This brings Wizz Air’s total fleet at its London base to 15 aircraft.
Thanks to this expansion, Wizz Air will launch six new routes from London Luton for summer 2026. These include Alicante, along with Yerevan, Lyon, Corfu, Faro and Turin. Flights between Alicante-Elche Airport and London will run five times a week, operating every day except Tuesday and Saturday.

The route will be served using an A321neo aircraft, offering a total of 2,390 seats per week. Flights from Alicante to London will depart at 11:55 and arrive at 13:35. On Thursdays, the departure time changes to 22:15. Flights in the opposite direction will leave London at 07:30 and arrive in Alicante at 11:10. On Thursdays, the London departure will be at 17:50.
Yvonne Moynihan, Wizz Air’s UK director, said the airline is strengthening its position at London Luton by securing the new slots. She explained that adding a 15th aircraft at the base makes it possible to launch six new routes, including the first direct flight from London to Armenia.
Wizz Air says it is focused on growing its presence at London Luton and aims to turn the airport into a key travel hub by 2026. London Luton Airport has also welcomed the announcement. Chief executive Simon Harley said the new routes will give passengers even more choice when travelling from the airport.
