Petrer will celebrate the traditional San Anton del Porquet Pilgrimage on Sunday 25 January, with a revised route due to ongoing construction work in Plaça de Baix.

This year, the usual finishing point is unavailable, so the procession will take a different route and end at a new location.

Even so, the spirit of the event remains unchanged, particularly for those who wish to bring their pets for a blessing.

The morning will begin at 10:00 with a free community lunch organised by the council. This will take place on the open plot next to the Reina Sofía School, accessed via Avenida Bassa Perico.

At around 11:15, the pilgrimage will set off from the area near the Reina Sofía School. Accompanied by music from El Terròs, the procession will pass along Calle Reina Sofía and Avenida Felipe V. The route will continue via Avenida Elda and head towards the Santa Cruz Parish Church.

The arrival at the church is expected at approximately midday. At that time, the traditional blessing of the bread rolls and animals will take place. Dogs, cats, and other well-behaved pets are welcome to join Petrer’s San Anton pilgrimage.
