Archaeology enthusiasts have a special treat this year. The exhibition ‘Dénia, Archaeology and Museum’ is on display at the MARQ Archaeological Museum in Alicante until April.
The Archaeology and Museums Department has organised guided tours with free bus transport from Dénia for the first quarter of 2026. The initiative began in December with four tours, all fully booked within hours.
The upcoming tours are scheduled for Saturday 31 January, Saturday 28 February, and Saturday 28 March. The bus departs from Torrecremada Esplanade at 09:30 and returns to Dénia at 14:30. Each tour requires a minimum of 20 participants and a maximum of 30. Individual attendees must purchase the MARQ entrance ticket for €3.
Dénia to MARQ: Limited places
Places are limited, so advance registration is essential. Call to book on +34 96 642 02 60, Monday to Sunday, from 09:00 to 13:00.
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey from the rock art of the Catxupa cave to historic sites such as Alt de Benimaquia, one of the Iberian Peninsula’s oldest wine-producing centres.
It also explores the Roman founding of Dianium, later known as Madina Daniya, a key port in the Islamic Mediterranean, before tracing the story of contemporary Dénia. The exhibition highlights the interplay between sea and land, showing how both shaped the region’s history.
From its opening until 7 January, the exhibition welcomed 7,317 visitors. It remains open until 6 April 2026, offering plenty of time for locals and visitors to experience Dénia’s rich archaeological heritage
