History enthusiasts have a date with the past. The exhibition “Dénia: Archaeology and Museum” opens on Friday, 14 November, at the MARQ Archaeological Museum in Alicante.

The exhibition invites visitors on a fascinating journey through Dénia’s archaeological heritage, from Prehistory to the 20th century.

Running until April 2026, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore more than six hundred pieces that trace the evolution of Dénia through time. Among the highlights is the complete collection of Islamic bronzes from Daniya/Dénia, the most varied and significant of its kind in the Islamic West, and on display in its entirety for the first time.

Designed by architect Ángel Rocamora, the exhibition brings together works not only from Dénia’s own Archaeological Museum but also from major institutions such as the Louvre Museum in Paris, the National Archaeological Museum, the MARQ, and the Bancaixa Foundation. Many of these pieces have never been exhibited before, offering a rare glimpse into the city’s extraordinary cultural legacy.

Open days and free visits

To celebrate the opening, the MARQ has organised special open days:

  • Friday, 14 November: 15:00–19:00
  • Saturday, 15 November: 10:00–19:00
  • Sunday, 16 November: 10:00–14:00

During these sessions, entry will be free, although guided tours will not be available.
