The first figure to be assembled will be Balthazar. This will be followed by Saint Joseph, the Virgin Mary, Gaspar, Melchior and finally the baby Jesus. The official opening will take place on Sunday 23 November with a light and sound show beginning at 18.30. The Town Hall Square will be closed to traffic on that day. After Three Kings Day, only public transport, taxis and buses will be allowed through.
Christmas in Alicante: Nativity Scenes
Meanwhile, the Association of Nativity Scene Makers is finishing the displays. One that will be set up in the entrance hall of Alicante Town Hall and the four scenes that will form the Community Nativity Scene in Plaza de la Montañeta.
The Town Hall display features large biblical figures with impressive depth, and it will be inaugurated on Thursday 27 November at 19:00.
The Plaza de la Montañeta scenes will open for the first time on Wednesday 26 November at 19:00. The display will combine two biblical settings and two traditional ones.
Another Christmas highlight is already standing proudly on Avenida de la Constitucion. The eighteen metre tall Christmas tree is now in place and will be officially lit on Friday 21 November at 19:00.
Thanks to the pedestrianisation of the Avenida de la Constitucion, it has become one of the most iconic festive areas in Alicante in recent years. It looks set to shine once again this season.
