Calling all Bridging the Gap readers. If you are a British retiree living on the Costa Blanca, you could help with an important research project at the University of Alicante.
Raquel Gil Monllor, a pre-doctoral researcher at the university’s Institute of Tourism Research, is currently working on a doctoral thesis exploring the experiences of the British retired community living in Alicante Province.
Her research focuses on how British retirees have adapted to life in Spain, particularly how social integration and everyday life have changed since Brexit.
British retirees on the Costa Blanca research project
The aim of the project is to better understand the challenges and opportunities faced by the British community living on the Costa Blanca.
The research hopes to identify factors that improve quality of life, highlight the needs of the community, and help organisations and institutions better understand how to support British residents in the province.
By sharing their experiences, participants could help improve future services and encourage stronger links between international residents and local communities.
