The town will once again fill with colour, music and street performances as the ARTenBITRIR Festival returns to Petrer from 16 to 19 April. This year’s event is inspired by magic and mystery

More than 20 national and international companies and artists will perform across the casco antiguo de Petrer throughout the long weekend.

ARTenBITRIR Festival in Petrer: A magical theme

This year’s theme, “¡Pura magia!” (Pure magic), plays on the symbolism of the number 13. The programme will explore superstition, myths, mystery and good and bad luck.

The festival begins on Thursday 16 April with an opening performance at Ateneu Republicà. The improvisation theatre group Gresca de Sanguangos from Elche will kick things off at 22:00.

Across the weekend, visitors can enjoy street performances including theatre, circus, dance, clown and magic performances.

There will also be two pasacalles (street parades):

  • Friday at 18:00 from Plaça de la Foia
  • Saturday at 20:45 from Derrocat

Five stages across Petrer old town

Performances will take place across five main locations:

  • Plaça de Dalt
  • Plaça Bisbe Frare
  • Derrocat
  • Párking de la Explanada
  • Jardines Alcalde Vicente Maestre (Escenari El Nano)

The Friday evening programme will end with live music from 22:30.

New travelling mural art

One of the main new features this year is the mural art project. Six artists will paint on truck containers, turning them into travelling artworks.

Visitors will also find live painting areas in Paseo de la Explanada.

Craft market and food trucks

The Expobitrir craft market will return with around 40 stalls. Artists and makers will display and sell their work throughout the weekend.

Food trucks will also be available in the Explanada area, offering a variety of food and drinks.

The festival is free to attend, although visitors can support performers with voluntary contributions.

The full programme is available on the festival website: ARTenBITRIR.com
