Jet2 is expanding its presence at Alicante-Elche Airport as part of a major growth plan.
The news comes as Jet.2 announce the launch of a new operational base at London Gatwick Airport in 2026.
This strategic move will strengthen the airline’s network between the United Kingdom and Spain. Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport is set to become one of Jet2’s key destinations. It will feature as one of the most frequent flight schedules in the plan.
From Gatwick, Jet2.com will operate routes to eleven Spanish destinations, offering:
- Two weekly flights to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Ibiza
- Three to Tenerife South, Menorca, Girona, and Reus
- Four to Málaga
- Five to Alicante
- Ten to Mallorca
Flights between Alicante and London Gatwick will run every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The new base marks an important milestone for Jet2.com, which has never before operated direct flights between Alicante and Gatwick. With this addition, the airline will strengthen its presence on Spain’s Costa Blanca where it already connects Alicante with Luton and Stansted.
Jet2.com joins an already busy route served by Ryanair, Vueling, EasyJet, British Airways, and TUI, giving passengers even more options for travel between the UK and Spain.
A stronger bridge between Spain and the UK
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays CEO Steve Heapy described the new base as a “fantastic opportunity” to expand the company’s reach and service offering.
“London represents a huge market of potential travellers to Spain,” Heapy said. “By offering flights from three of its airports, we’re making it easier and more affordable for passengers to visit the UK capital from Spain, and for British holidaymakers to enjoy their favourite Spanish destinations.”
The Gatwick expansion forms part of Jet2.com’s wider strategy to consolidate its position as one of the leading tour operators connecting Britain with the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, and mainland Spain.
