Foreign retirees flocking to the Spanish coast isn’t exactly breaking news.
They are everywhere! Mostly hanging around the islands, Malaga, and the Valencian Community.
A U.S.-based website called Live and Invest Overseas, which focuses on living and putting your money into places abroad, recently put together a list of the top ten countries to retire in. They picked one city per country, based mainly on safety, cost of living, and how much cash you’d need to settle in. And, Valencia made the cut. It’s been topping these sorts of lists for a while now, and for good reason.
According to the website, Valencia is a solid spot to invest in property and live a good life. They gave a thumbs-up to its seaside setting, unique buildings, colourful tiles, and laid-back Mediterranean lifestyle. They even reckon the locals speak passable English which is a win in their books.
What really impresses them about Spain is how much you get for your money. The cost of living is fairly low, but you still get quality housing, solid healthcare, and a cultural buffet of music, food, wine, art, architecture, and fiestas.
They also point out how Spain’s landscape, full of mountains, valleys, rivers, and islands, plays a role in the rich mix of local traditions and customs.
