Drivers heading into central Santa Pola this summer should be aware of new seasonal traffic restrictions that will remain in force until 15 September.

The annual measures aim to create a more pedestrian-friendly town centre during the busy summer months and will limit vehicle access to several key streets and public spaces.

Evening road closures throughout the summer

From Monday to Saturday, authorities will prohibit vehicle access to the restricted area between 18:00 and 06:00.

On Sundays, public holidays and during certain special events, local officials may close the affected streets for the entire day and dedicate them exclusively to pedestrians.

The restrictions apply to:

  • Calle Almirante Antequera between Calle Sacramento and Calle Muelle
  • Plaza de la Glorieta
  • Calle Elche between Plaza de la Glorieta and Calle Marqués de Molins
  • Calle Dean López between Calle Cruz and Calle María López
  • Calle María López Street

In addition, authorities will close Calle Muelle and the section of Calle Cervantes between Calle Sacramento and Calle Muelle for 24 hours on Saturdays.

Castle area reserved for pedestrians

Authorities will keep the road in front of the Castle Fortress and through the centre of Plaza de la Glorieta closed to private vehicles throughout the summer period.

Emergency services, public service vehicles and drivers with specific authorisation from the Local Police can still access the area.

Police may fine drivers who enter restricted areas without permission.

Access for garage permit holders

Residents with authorised garage access permits inside the restricted zone can continue to reach their properties during closure periods.

However, they must drive with extreme caution and give priority to pedestrians when using the affected streets.

The Town Hall has also reminded suppliers, delivery drivers and service providers that they must obtain prior authorisation before entering restricted areas during closure periods.

Outside the restricted hours, drivers can access the area normally between 06:00 and 18:00.
