Hotel prices across Spain continued to rise in April, with accommodation costs increasing by 7.5% compared with the same month last year.
The latest figures come from European Consumer Price Index data and reflect continued strong demand across the tourism sector.
Costa Blanca hotels: strong demand
Hotels across the Costa Blanca continue to report high occupancy levels as another busy tourism season approaches.
Popular destinations including Alicante and Benidorm have seen strong demand from both international visitors and domestic travellers.
Rising operating costs have also pushed prices higher across the hotel sector.
Spain’s annual inflation rate reached 3.2% in April, while hotel and restaurant prices increased by around 4.8%.
Tourism boom: Pushing prices up
Analysts say record visitor numbers and strong consumer spending continue to drive prices higher in Spain.
Tourism demand remains stronger than in several other European countries, including France, Germany and Italy.
Hotels and hospitality businesses also face rising wage costs, higher energy bills and increased supply expenses.
Spain’s industrial prices rose sharply again in April, recording the fastest increase since 2022, especially in energy-intensive sectors.
Alicante-Elche Airport: Breaking records
Along the Mediterranean coast, many hotels already report near-capacity bookings ahead of the peak summer season.
Areas popular with British, Dutch, Belgian and Scandinavian tourists continue to attract especially high demand.
Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has also continued breaking passenger records this year.
Cheap Spain holidays: Hard to find
The latest figures show budget holidays in Spain are becoming more difficult to find, especially in coastal destinations during summer weekends and school holidays.
Travellers looking for lower prices increasingly choose inland destinations or travel outside the busiest months.
