Ryanair continues to strengthen its network of German connections from Alicante–Elche Airport, as Germany remains one of the key source markets for the Costa Blanca.
For the upcoming low season, it will be the third European country (after the UK and the Netherlands) with the highest number of scheduled seats.
The news follows the recent announcement of summer flights from Alicante to Saarbrücken, on Germany’s western border with France. The Irish carrier has now revealed another addition: a new route to Friedrichshafen. The city is a lakeside city on the northern shore of Lake Constance in the region of Baden-Württemberg.
This isn’t Ryanair’s first time flying there, the airline previously operated the Alicante–Friedrichshafen route between 2009 and 2010. Starting April 2026, the connection will return with two weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
A welcome return to Lake Constance
Friedrichshafen, a city of around 61,000 residents, is known for its scenic views, lakeside tourism, and proximity to the Alps. Ryanair announced the new route in a statement. The airline confirmed that Friedrichshafen Airport will rejoin its operating network, with flights not only to Alicante but also to Palma de Mallorca next summer.
To celebrate the launch, Ryanair has introduced promotional fares starting at €35 for travel between April and May 2026.
Flight schedules will be as follows:
From Alicante to Friedrichshafen
- Wednesday: departs 14:35, arrives 17:05
- Saturday: departs 08:10, arrives 10:40
From Friedrichshafen to Alicante
- Wednesday: departs 17:30, arrives 20:20
- Saturday: departs 11:05, arrives 13:35
Marcel Pouchain, Ryanair’s Director of Communications for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, said the company is “delighted to return to Friedrichshafen with new routes to such popular destinations as Alicante and Palma de Mallorca.” He also praised the competitiveness of Germany’s regional airports while taking a swipe at larger hubs such as Berlin and Hamburg.
Ryanair expanding German links
This marks Ryanair’s second new German route announced from Alicante for the 2026 summer season. In addition to Friedrichshafen, the airline will also begin flying to Saarbrücken Airport, with services operating on Thursdays and Saturdays. It will be the first time Ryanair has connected this airport, located in Germany’s Saarland region, with Alicante.
Not all new routes are waiting until next summer to launch, though. The airline recently announced a new link between Alicante and Bratislava, set to begin on 27 October 2025, with four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
With these additions, Ryanair continues to strengthen its position as one of the leading carriers at Alicante–Elche Airport, boosting connectivity with key European destinations and supporting the region’s growing year-round tourism industry.
