Benidorm has made a strong start to the summer tourist season, recording the highest hotel occupancy in the Valencian Community as demand remains high among both British and Spanish holidaymakers.
Figures released by hotel association HOSBEC show the resort achieved 90.3% occupancy during the second half of June. That comfortably topped the regional rankings and almost matched last year’s excellent start to the summer.
Benidorm leads the region
Across the Valencian Community, hotel occupancy averaged 87.1% during the second half of June. As a result, the monthly average reached around 87%, more than one percentage point higher than in June 2025.
Meanwhile, Benidorm once again confirmed its status as the Costa Blanca’s tourism powerhouse. Hotels recorded 90.3% occupancy during the second half of June, compared with 90.1% during the same period last year.
Across the whole month, occupancy averaged 89.4%, remaining virtually unchanged from June 2025. These figures underline the resort’s ability to maintain consistently high demand despite growing competition from other Mediterranean destinations.
British tourists remain the biggest market
International visitors continued to drive Benidorm’s success throughout June.
British tourists accounted for 44.4% of hotel guests during the second half of the month, while Spanish visitors made up 36.1%. In addition, Portugal strengthened its presence, representing 4.4% of overnight stays.
Hotels also welcomed increasing numbers of visitors from Ireland, Romania, the Netherlands, Belgium and Serbia.
Looking at June as a whole, the British market performed even more strongly, accounting for 46.8% of all hotel guests. That was almost two percentage points higher than a year earlier.
At the same time, three and four-star hotels enjoyed almost identical demand, with occupancy reaching 90.4% and 90.1% respectively.
Costa Blanca hotels continue to perform well
Elsewhere, hotels across the rest of the Costa Blanca also enjoyed a busy second half of June.
Occupancy reached 82.6%, slightly below last year’s 84.4%, while the monthly average stood at 81.8%.
However, the southern Costa Blanca delivered one of the strongest performances. Occupancy averaged 79% during June, an increase of 4.5 percentage points compared with the same month last year.
Unlike Benidorm, domestic travellers remained the largest customer group across the wider Costa Blanca, accounting for 55.6% of hotel stays. British tourists followed with 13.8%.
July outlook remains positive
Looking ahead, the outlook for July is equally encouraging.
Benidorm hotels already have 86.7% of rooms booked for the first half of the month. However, Hosbec expects occupancy to move closer to 90% as last-minute bookings continue to arrive.
Overall, the association believes the figures point to another excellent summer for the Costa Blanca, supported by strong international demand and continued confidence from British holidaymakers.
