Getting to the coast from Elche by public transport is easier this summer thanks to three seasonal bus routes serving some of the municipality’s most popular coastal destinations.

The services began operating on 1 July and will continue throughout July and August. As a result, residents and visitors can travel to Arenales del Sol, El Altet, La Marina and El Pinet without relying on the car.

The initiative forms part of Elche Town Hall’s summer mobility plan. In turn, it aims to improve access to the coast while reducing congestion during the busiest months of the year.

Elche summer bus: Serving the coast

The seasonal network includes three dedicated services.

Firstly, Route P1 operates as a circular service around Arenales del Sol. Buses run daily from 08:20 to 21:30, with departures approximately every 22 minutes. This allows passengers to move around the resort easily throughout the day.

Meanwhile, Route P2 links El Altet with Arenales del Sol between 10:00 and 19:30. This summer, the operator has introduced smaller minibuses to increase the frequency of services and cope better with peak demand.

Finally, Route P3 connects La Marina and El Pinet with nearby beach areas. Here too, minibuses operate approximately every 45 minutes, providing a service better suited to seasonal passenger numbers.

Public transport continues to grow

The new beach routes follow record passenger numbers on Elche’s rural bus network.

According to the town hall, buses serving the municipality’s outlying districts carried 172,495 passengers in June, the highest monthly total ever recorded.

Overall, that represents a 40% increase compared with June last year, with almost 50,000 additional journeys. The figures underline the growing popularity of public transport across the municipality.
