Forget cooking. Torrevieja is serving up eight days of tapas, drinks and a little culinary rivalry, with 18 bars and restaurants competing to prove who makes the best bite in town.
There are few things Spain does better than turning a small plate of food into
an entire afternoon.
Nos Vamos de Tapas returns on 5 November, with 18 bars and restaurants offering a tapa and a drink for just €4.
The event runs over two long weekends, from 5 to 8 November and again from 12 to 15 November, giving residents and visitors eight days to work their way around some of Torrevieja’s kitchens.
There is also a competition to crown the town’s best traditional and innovative tapas, with the winners announced on 17 November.
Eighteen bars and €4 a stop
It’s wonderfully simple.
Walk into a participating bar or restaurant, ask for its Nos Vamos de Tapas special and hand over €4.
In return, you get a tapa and a drink.
Traditional tapas take on the experimental chefs
There is more to Nos Vamos de Tapas than an excuse for a leisurely lunch.
The Asociación de Empresas de Hostelería de Torrevieja y Comarca (AEHTC) has also organised the third edition of its tapas competition.
All 18 participating establishments presented their creations at the CdT hospitality training centre in Torrevieja.
The competition has two categories: Best Traditional Tapa and Best Innovative Tapa.

The line-up stretches across Torrevieja and includes La Mata.
There are prizes for the public too
The chefs are not the only ones with something to win.
Organisers have also announced prize draws for people taking part in the tapas route.
They have not yet confirmed the full details of the prizes or how to enter, so ask at participating establishments about the arrangements.
