In Spain, the main number for all emergencies is 112. This covers medical issues, accidents, fires, life-threatening situations, and more.
Using 112 has some advantages:
- It works anywhere in Spain.
- Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
- You can call even if your phone is locked, has no SIM card, or has no mobile signal.
- You don’t need to dial any national prefixes, even if your phone is from another country.
There are also other numbers for specific emergencies:
- 091 – Police
- 061 – Health emergencies
- 080 – Firefighters
- 092 – Local police
For extra safety, you can download the ALERTCOPS app. It provides an SOS button, sends location-based safety alerts, and allows discreet contact with the Spanish Police or Civil Guard if you witness or experience a crime.
The app works throughout Spain, except in the Basque Country and Catalonia.
