Villajoyosa has just added a new date to its food calendar, and this one celebrates two of life’s finest pleasures: fish and wine.

The event, Pescado y Vino, will take place on 5 September in Barbera dels Aragonés Park and bring together around twenty wineries, restaurants, and local businesses.

Tickets are €20, available in advance at participating venues or at the door.

Things kick off at 18:30, with the first highlight at 19:00, the cutting of a 150-kilo tuna. Known as ronqueo, this traditional method of breaking down the fish ensures that every part is used, and it will be the first time such a demonstration is staged in Villajoyosa.

From 19:30 to 22:30, visitors can sample dishes from local restaurants alongside wines from across the region.

The evening won’t end there, music and drinks will keep the party lively until 00:30.

Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Rosa Llorca, confirmed “the aim is to give Villajoyosa’s wine fair a local twist by spotlighting a product that defines the town: its fish.”
