Calling all dog lovers. Dolores will become the centre of the Bully world on 31 January 2026 when it hosts the Spain ABRE Double Dog Show.
This international championship will bring together some of the finest examples of the breed, along with judges and competitors from Europe and the Americas.
The event will run throughout the day, from around 10:00 to 21:00. Entry is free and the show is designed as a family friendly event, open to the general public. Visitors can expect a full day of competition and more muscle per square metre than the average gym!
Dolores Bully Dog Show: Truly international
The Spain ABRE Double Show will feature international judges from the United States, Mexico and Sweden. Competitors will attend from Denmark, the Netherlands and different parts of Spain.
The Councillor for Sports, Gabriel Cantero, highlighted the importance of hosting an event of this scale in the municipality. He said that Dolores Town Council continues to support high level sporting events and exhibitions that help promote the town beyond its borders. According to the councillor, this international championship places Dolores firmly on the map in a discipline with a strong following and wide visibility.
He added that events of this type offer more than sporting value. They also provide a welcome boost to the local economy, particularly hospitality and retail, while giving residents and visitors a different and high quality leisure option.
European Bully competition calendar
The championship allows participants to earn points towards the International Champion title. This has helped establish the Spain ABRE Double Show as an important date on the European Bully competition calendar.
Event organiser Younes Akian, a Dolores resident, breeder and competitor, explained that the Bully Show assesses dogs across different categories in line with official standards and under the supervision of specialised judges. He said that judging takes into account morphology, elegance and appearance, as well as behaviour, care and overall welfare. Several rounds will take place throughout the day, leading to the finals, with two judges assigned to each category.
The programme also includes junior categories, where children take part with dogs suited to competition and receive gifts. There will also be a women’s category.
Both the organisers and the Town Hall have placed particular emphasis on animal welfare.
