After a very wet Christmas in the Marina Alta, the region is looking ahead to the final night of 2025 with a bit more weather optimism.
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has confirmed that New Year’s Eve will bring cold but dry weather, good news for anyone planning to celebrate outdoors.
A sunny start to 31 December
Wednesday 31 December will begin with bright, sunny conditions. Temperatures will climb to around 14°C by midday, creating pleasant conditions for outdoor activities before evening celebrations begin.
From midday onwards, clouds will gradually increase, especially along the coast and in northern areas of the region. Despite the cloud cover, AEMET does not expect any rainfall. Overnight temperatures will fall to between 7°C and 8°C, so those heading out late should dress warmly.
Both Thursday 1 January and Friday 2 January 2026 will bring settled, sunny weather to the Marina Alta. While Storm Francis will cause rain in the Canary Islands, the east coast will continue to enjoy stable conditions.
Rain possible later in the week
From Friday 2 into Saturday 3 January, rain will begin to spread across parts of mainland Spain, mainly affecting western regions. In the Marina Alta, AEMET already forecasts a chance of rain during the second half of Saturday.
Between Sunday 4 January and Tuesday 6 January, Three Kings Day, the forecast becomes more uncertain. AEMET warns that heavy rain could reach areas along the Mediterranean coast, including the Marina Alta.
