Calling all runners. Santa Pola has just the event for you. The town is bringing back one of its most popular races, and it is already picking up pace. The 10K night run returns on Saturday 6 June, with more than 1,200 runners already signed up.
So, if you are thinking about taking part, it might be wise to secure your place sooner rather than later.
Santa Pola night run: Flat course
The race starts at 21:00, just as the heat begins to fade. From there, runners follow a 10 kilometre route through the town, passing the seafront, the port and central streets. The race finishes on Avenida Pérez Ojeda.
Because the course is flat and at sea level, it is ideal for anyone chasing a personal best.
At the same time, the evening setting and coastal views makes the experience just as enjoyable as the result.
A chance to win €1,000
This year, there is an added incentive. Thanks to the Gran Premio Clínica Traumatológica Doctor Soler, a €1,000 prize will go to the first male and female runners who break the current course records.
However, those times are seriously quick. The benchmarks were set by Jakob Krop (27:46) and Clare Chemtai Ndwia (31:32), setting a high bar for anyone aiming for the prize.
More than just a race
In addition, every runner will receive a race pack. This includes a technical T-shirt, a medal, a towel and even a kilo of local salt from Santa Pola’s famous salt flats.
There will also be drinks stations along the route, helping runners stay hydrated from start to finish.

Well organised for all runners
The event is organised by the Club de Atletismo Santa Pola alongside the local council, and it caters for all levels.
To keep things running smoothly, organisers will divide runners into start zones based on expected finish times. Whether you are aiming for a sub-30 finish or simply want to enjoy the run, you will be grouped with others at a similar pace.
