Calling all shoppers! If you fancy mixing a bit of browsing with some family-friendly fun, Orihuela has something lined up for you this weekend.
Orihuela is rolling out a spring programme designed to bring a bit more life to local shopping areas. The idea is simple: get people out, enjoying the streets, and give local businesses a boost at the same time.
What is happening and when
The events will run over three days, from 23 to 25 April, between 17:00 and 20:00. Different parts of the town will host activities each day, so there is a good excuse to explore a few corners you might not normally visit.
On 23 April, things kick off in Plaza Nueva and Plaza Centuria Romana. Enjoy inflatables for the kids, themed workshops, music and a bit of light entertainment.
On 24 April, the focus shifts to Calle Mayor and Patriarca Antioquía. There will be more workshops, a 360º photocall, live entertainment and a magic show.
On 25 April, everything moves to Parque Severo Ochoa. This is more activity-based, with sports like 3×3 basketball, archery and speed ball, alongside children’s shows and music.
Shopping in Orihuela: More than just browsing
The aim is to create a bit of atmosphere and encourage people to spend time in the town centre rather than heading straight for shopping centres or online orders.
Councillor, Vicente Pina, confirmed, “the campaign builds on similar events held over Christmas, with more planned throughout the year during key shopping periods”.
