Are you at a loose end this weekend? Head over to Alicante’s La Marjal Park, which is wrapping up its tenth anniversary celebrations on Sunday, 19 October.
Located in Playa de San Juan, La Marjal Park has become a symbol of innovation and sustainability in the city.
Something for sports fans
To close a year of festivities, organisers have put together a programme that promises something for everyone. Sports fans can enjoy basketball displays, judo sessions, football, handball, and a spot of yoga.
Exercising the mind
For those who prefer to exercise their minds rather than their muscles, there will be educational workshops throughout the morning. Children can take part in hands-on environmental sessions or enjoy the entertaining Fun Science theatre show.
La Marjal Park, Alicante: Water tasting sessions
One of the day’s more unusual attractions will be the water tasting sessions, where visitors can learn to tell the difference between water from various sources. Attendees will be shown the proper technique for tasting and identifying water from different origins.
Something for nature lovers
Nature lovers can join guided birdwatching walks to learn about the more than 120 species found in the park. There will also be live bird ringing demonstrations for those keen to see science in action.
Cultural and artistic activities
From 11:30 until 13:30, visitors can also enjoy cultural and artistic activities. Expect urban dance masterclasses, craft workshops, and musical performances from local artists. Adding a creative touch, a group of painters will spend the morning capturing the park’s beauty from its most scenic viewpoints.
Finish the day at La Marjal with tasty Alicante rice
And because no celebration in Alicante would be complete without a good meal, free servings of traditional Alicante rice will be offered at 13:30. Guests will also find a photocall, park merchandise, and free tap water available until 15:00.
Parque La Marjal is located at Avinguda de les Nacions, 03540, Alicante.
