Jijona (Xixona) will celebrate its Christmas Fair from 4 to 8 December and this year’s event is expected to be the biggest so far.

Now in its seventeenth year, the fair has grown both in participation and activities. It has become one of the major attractions of the December long bank holiday weekend.

121 stalls will fill Avenida de la Constitució (almost 15% more than last year). You will find everything from nougat and artisanal sweets to gourmet products, festive decorations, and handcrafted gifts.

The mayor noted that this growth reflects the rising interest from businesses wanting to take part in an event that has become a Christmas landmark in Spain.

Christmas in Jijona: Gastronomy

The gastronomic area in Barranc de la Font park will also expand. There will be additional food trucks, larger picnic areas, a dedicated children’s space, and improved services designed to welcome more visitors than ever.

This year’s cultural programme has been significantly extended. At the Teatret, visitors can enjoy turrón and chocolate tastings, showcookings, and pairings led by specialists.

The Casa de Cultura will host guided exhibitions and an aerial dance performance, while the tent in front of the Town Hall will become the hub for workshops, tastings, and product demonstrations. Music, storytelling, and family shows will fill the performance area throughout the fair, creating a festive atmosphere for all ages.

Favourite traditions

Two favourite traditions will also return. The Christmas train will once again travel through the town centre, and the Betlemet, the life-size nativity scene set against the castle hillside, will continue to be one of the most photographed sights in Jijona.
