Are you planning your summer holidays? Alicante-Elche Airport is expanding its horizons for summer 2026 with a brand-new route to Istanbul.

For the first time ever, Alicante will have a direct connection to Istanbul, thanks to Pegasus Airlines. Flights to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport located on the Asian side of the city.

The service begins on 23 June and will operate year round, with four weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Fares start from €81 one way, and tickets are already available.

East meets West

Istanbul is one of the most visited cities in the world, known for its mix of history, culture and food. Sitting between Europe and Asia, it offers a very different type of city break compared to typical destinations from Alicante.

Key attractions include:

  • Hagia Sophia
  • Blue Mosque
  • Grand Bazaar

Flying into Sabiha Gökçen Airport also gives access to onward connections to destinations across the Middle East and Central Asia, making it a useful option for longer trips.

Wider summer schedule

The new Istanbul route is one of around 15 additions to Alicante-Elche Airport’s summer schedule. This new route is just one piece of a much bigger puzzle. The airport will offer 134 destinations this summer, with a wave of new connections including:

  • Yerevan (Alicante’s longest route at 3,800 km)
  • Belgrade
  • Luxembourg
  • Casablanca
  • Venice
  • Geneva

Plus multiple new London routes, including London connections to Gatwick and Luton

Airlines like Ryanair, Vueling, Wizz Air and Jet2 are all expanding their presence, turning Alicante into a true Mediterranean travel hub.
