If you have ever fancied stepping back a couple of millennia, head to Monforte del Cid. From 19 to 21 September, the town will host the very first Íbero-Roman Fair.
What makes this fair different?
Monforte del Cid’s event is firmly rooted in its genuine Iberian and Roman heritage. The town boasts archaeological sites and the IBERO Museum. The museum is home to ancient ceramics, weapons, and everyday objects that tell the story of how these two great cultures once lived, merged, and left their mark on this region.
For three days, the town will be transformed into a stage of living history, complete with parades, workshops, theatrical visits, and demonstrations of ancient trades.
Mayor Juan José Hernández summed it up nicely: “The Íbero-Roman Fair is not just another themed event, but a tribute to our roots. We want to bring our history closer in an attractive way and turn culture into a driver of development for the town.”
