Calling all burger fans. Alicante has just scored a big win in the world of gourmet burgers, and it’s one locals can definitely celebrate.
At The Champions Burger event held on Playa de San Juan, a burger created in Alicante has been crowned the winner of the latest stop on the nationwide tour. And not just any winner. For now, it’s officially one of the best burgers in Spain.
Alicante’s ‘Gladiadora’ takes the burger crown
The winning creation comes from The VicBros Burger, with their standout entry “La Gladiadora”. The burger fought off strong competition and claimed victory thanks to thousands of public votes during the 12 day food festival.
This win also marks a third consecutive victory for The VicBros Burger, following previous wins in Murcia and Seville. A hat trick worthy of celebration.
To make the result even sweeter, the Alicante based team also picked up the Local Favourite award, confirming the burger’s popularity with hometown crowds.
What’s inside the winning burger?
So what made La Gladiadora stand out? It’s all about layers of bold flavour
working together:
- Pretzel style brioche bun
- Simmental beef patty
- Aged cheddar cheese
- Bacon jam
- Smoked bacon mayonnaise
- Crispy onion
- Emmy Love sauce
- Pecorino cheese powder
It’s a burger designed to make an impression and clearly, it delivered.
A podium packed with flavour
While Alicante took the top spot, the competition was fierce. The full podium included:
- Second place: Godeo (Córdoba) with “Royale Gold”
- Third place: Gottan (Málaga) with “Money Myweather”
A food festival with a sporting twist
This edition of The Champions Burger, titled “The Big Game”, was inspired by American football, turning Playa de San Juan into a kind of gastronomic stadium.
Thousands of visitors attended during the Easter period, sampling burgers and casting their votes.
With Alicante now holding the crown, the competition moves on to Barcelona, where The VicBros Burger will aim to defend their title and continue their winning streak.
