Get your taste buds twirling. Benidorm is launching a brand-new food event called Menjars del Nostre Poble (Foods from Our Town).
Food from Our Town: Benidorm’s big bite
The idea is quite simple but very tempting. The public will enjoy a variety of dishes, tapas, and desserts. These include bread rolls known as los bollos a la paleta, rice with anchovies and spinach, and rice with dolphinfish. you can also try coca a la calda, a delicious flatbread, along with anise rolls. Other options include all i pebre, a garlic and pepper stew, octopus stew, and many more local classics.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, confirmed the celebrations will run from 27 November to 30 November. Over these four days, diners will be treated to the flavours that have been passed from one generation to the next in Benidorm homes, “flavours that now receive the recognition they deserve.”
“Although Menjars del Nostre Poble sits outside the usual Benidorm Gastronomic programme, it shares the same aim, to shine a spotlight on local food and the wide range of restaurants the town has to offer,” the mayor confirmed.
He also praised the twenty two participating establishments for bringing back the traditional dishes that many locals remember from childhood.
“Menjars del Nostre Poble is offering tapas, dishes, full menus and desserts that could easily stand beside the creations of any Michelin starred restaurant.”
