Every winter, Alcoy turns into a real life Christmas story. Its streets, squares and theatres fill with lights, tradition and joy, creating one of the most iconic festive atmospheres in Spain.
Under the title “City of Christmas”, the town offers a full programme.
Main Christmas events in Alcoy
The Christmas season in Alcoy begins with a calendar full of magical moments. From the lighting ceremony to the arrival of the Three Kings, each event keeps alive a tradition that has been celebrated for generations.
- La Castañera – 24 December, 10:00 to 14:00
- Les Pastoretes parade – 28 December, 12:00
- Day of La Burreta – 4 January: Tio Piam (18:00) and La Burreta (18:30)

There is also the chance to visit the Royal Camp from 8:00 to 14:00. Booking is required through the official app “Campamento Real”. It is one of the most magical experiences for children.
Casal del Nadal and the Christmas Market
The Casal del Nadal, located in the old chapel of the Virgen de los Desamparados, is the perfect place to learn about the traditions and characters that make Alcoy’s Christmas so special. Entry is free and it is open until 5 January.
Just a short walk away, the Christmas Market takes place in the Glorieta Park from 12 to 14 December. Local crafts, sweets, decorations and Christmas gifts fill the park with festive atmosphere.
Theatre, Nativity scenes and immersive experiences
Theatre and Nativity scenes are essential parts of Christmas in Alcoy. These shows keep alive the stories and traditions that the town is famous for.

Tirisiti Train
A favourite among families, the Tirisiti Train runs from 22 December to 6 January, taking passengers through the most festive streets of Alcoy. Tickets cost €5 and are available at trentirisiti.vectalia.es.
