When it comes to Costa Blanca autumn tourism, Benidorm is once again proving why it’s the Mediterranean’s comeback kid.

The resort city has opened 40,000 hotel rooms for autumn, leading the tourism charge across the Valencian Community.

According to Hosbec, the region’s hotel and tourism business association, 86.4% of Benidorm’s hotel beds are already booked for the first half of October, higher than last year’s figures. The group says the numbers confirm Benidorm’s reputation as one of the Mediterranean’s most resilient destinations.

Beyond the summer season

While occupancy will dip slightly from September’s 90%-plus highs, the city continues to perform impressively beyond the summer season. As usual, British holidaymakers are keeping things lively, accounting for almost half of all overnight stays. Combined with Spanish visitors, they make up around 80% of total tourism. Travellers from Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands also add to the mix, maintaining solid visitor numbers.

Costa Blanca autumn tourism: Strengthening markets

Hosbec plans to strengthen the all-important British market even further at the upcoming World Travel Market in London this November. The UK already represents 47% of Benidorm’s hotel market and nearly a quarter of bookings across the Costa Blanca.

Elsewhere along the coast, occupancy figures are lower. The Costa Blanca as a whole sits at 77% for early October, about six points lower than last year, while southern Alicante lags slightly at 74%.

Benidorm’s steady draw suggests that, come rain or shine, the resort remains Spain’s most reliable crowd-pleaser.

Tourism across Spain in 2025

Spain set fresh highs during 2025’s peak months, welcoming 11.0 million international visitors in July and a record 11.3 million in August, according to the INE. Between January and August, Spain received 66.8 million visitors in total, up 3.9% on last year and the highest figure ever recorded for that period.
