Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport continues its record-breaking streak in 2025.
The airport closing the month of June with 1,921,706 passengers, an 8.4% increase compared to the same month last year. This milestone highlights the airport’s ongoing momentum, with more than 9.2 million travellers passing through its terminals in the first half of the year.
International traffic remains the dominant force behind the airport’s growth, with 1,689,630 international passengers in June alone, a 10.2% rise year-on-year. In contrast, domestic traffic saw a slight dip, with 229,920 passengers, representing a 3.2% decrease.
The United Kingdom continued to lead as the airport’s top international market in June, with 656,999 passengers, followed by:
- Germany – 113,350
- The Netherlands – 106,442
- Poland – 90,731
- France – 88,029
Flight operations also see record high
In addition to rising passenger numbers, flight activity also set a new record. A total of 11,730 operations were recorded in June, up 7.1% compared to June 2024.
Half-year airport figures show impressive growth
From January to June 2025, the airport welcomed a total of 9,204,491 passengers, a 10.3% increase compared to the first half of 2024. In that same period, 58,411 flight movements were recorded, up 10.6% year-on-year.
National context: Aena group sees steady growth
Aena, which operates 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, as well as London Luton Airport and 17 airports in Brazil, closed June 2025 with:
- 35.76 million passengers – up 3.8% year-on-year
- 300,606 aircraft movements – up 2.9%
- 119,475 tonnes of cargo handled – up 4.9%
