Alicante is wasting no time getting into the New Year spirit and the city has planned a full day of celebrations for Wednesday, 31 December.

From morning until the early hours, there is something for all ages. The fun starts early at 10:30, when children can collect party bags at the junction of La Rambla and Portal de Elche.

At 12:00, Alicante Town Hall will host the traditional rehearsal of the New Year chimes. It is a chance to practise those grapes without pressure! The midday event will include entertainment, a photo booth, inflatable attractions and a children’s show, making it a popular stop for families.

New Year’s Eve in Alicante

As evening turns into night, the focus shifts to the oldies. The main New Year’s Eve celebration will run from 23:00 until 04:00 the following morning. As in recent years, the main stage will be set up on La Rambla.

Last year, music, live entertainment and the handing out of 2,000 bags of grapes kept spirits high well past midnight. The stage location also helped ease pressure on Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where the Giant Nativity Scene attracts large numbers of visitors.

This year, free grapes and live music will once again be part of the celebration.

The Punto Violeta will also return, located at the corner of Calle Cándida Jimeno Gargallo and Calle Bailén. This space provides information, prevention and support related to gender based violence and will be open throughout the night.

New Year’s Eve weather

As for the weather, AEMET is currently forecasting a dry New Year’s Eve for Alicante. No rain is expected, although the City Council has confirmed that any changes will be announced if the forecast shifts.
